Description

Engaging the Organisation in Preventing Retail Loss

Change has been significant in the last 12 months of retail, with retailers needing to quickly pivot their organisation towards different trading hours and patterns, to introduce changes to the ways of working, including removing some traditional controls, and to new ways of selling, often with a depleted workforce caused by COVID, and an influx of new store associates to cope with increased volumes and the new requirements to ensure COVID safe shopping.

In this context, and in some retailers, the management of retail loss has been relegated as a priority as organisations scrambled to meet other priorities such as recruiting new associates, keeping the shelves full, building new online capabilities and managing stores to meet new government COVID regulations, yet as the ECR report on employee engagement identified, engagement of the store is critical and the foundation to any successful loss prevention programme

In this session, Tesco shared how they leveraged the appetite for virtual learning, to deliver a breakthrough programme that "cut through" the noise, increasing the engagement of the store operations function and process owners in the home office, such as buyers, to deliver a series of master classes via Zoom, that lead to very positive results. The group discussion centred around how other organisations have responded, and the lessons others could take from the learning from others and Tesco.
